Textures can be nice and serve a unique purpose in design, but let’s not get out of hand. Only use them if they are necessary.
Bodies of text should never be set in italics. If everything is emphasized, nothing is.
Weird is good. Sometimes differentiation is reason enough to do something ridiculous.
Text that is meant to be read (on the web) should really never be smaller than 17px in height.
Design should not necessarily elicit a feeling. It’s not necessary that it moves you. Sometimes it just has to work.
The power of updatability on the web doesn’t mean every website should be integrated into a CMS. Hard-coded sites have their place.
Only after a sense of purpose and organization is achieved should color and detail be added. Color should be used with well-considered intention.
Design should be simple. Over-complicating is often a poor excuse for depth.
